Thailand May Become the World's Third Largest Gambling Market
According to a Citigroup report, Thailand has the potential to become the third-largest gambling market globally, trailing only Macau and Las Vegas. Gross gaming revenue (GGR) could reach $9.1 billion following full legalization and market launch.
Licenses are planned for casinos in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. The legalization process is expected to be completed by mid-2025. The development of the gambling industry will have a significant positive impact on tourism and construction, with major companies such as Airports of Thailand and Minor International likely to be key beneficiaries.
Integrated entertainment complex projects, including the Airport City initiative, will strengthen Thailand's position as a global hub for tourism and entertainment. However, it may take up to six years to fully implement these projects.
